Ah, as the open relationship world turns had another episode yesterday afternoon after it appeared that Carnival Cruise Lines unofficially banned the famous upside down pineapple<\/a>. And if that wasn’t enough, the originating message disappeared, off to sea, like a ship in a tempest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ok, so what happened?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we know, cruises are a popular gathering destination for open relationships types around the world. Those who frequent cruise ships sometimes place an upside down pineapple on their door, or even on their dinner table, as a way to signal open relationship vibes to other potentials. Its a sort of incognito symbol that non-open relationship enthusiasts often don’t get. It’s harmless – unless you don’t like pineapple in general, then maybe not so much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald made waves when he responding to questions about singles cruises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPlease can Carnival have an addition to their app that will give the opportunity for single cruisers to meet?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heald went on to say that the company had phased those out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUpside (down) pineapple on your door will do the trick!\u201d someone quickly replied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Heald wasn’t having that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThank you for mentioning that, those are definitely no longer allowed on the ships and they will be removed from any cabin door,\u201d Heald said, per CruiseHive. \u201cThank you for reminding me to mention that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to some, Heald’s statement was deleted, so who knows what the truth is. One thing that appears rather clear is that Heald doesn’t much appreciate our type on his cruises, which may backfire for him. open relationship enthusiasts, harmless as they are, must generate a decent amount of revenue on his ships. Maybe Heald is just battling his inner-open-relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
